Something to ponder Olympic memories and snow skiing 2500 years before the Egyptian Pyramids?

Wow, Sandness to Morgedal and on to Lillehammer 1994 it's hard to believe that it has been 16 years since we traveled to Lillehammer Norway to the Olympic Village. In route we stopped off in Morgedal the home of Sondre Norheim, known as the "father of modern skiing" the originator of recreation skiing back in the mid 1800's.

I was the only one of the approximate 40 people traveling on the bus from Stavanger that packed my cross-country ski's. Knowing that we would overnight in the cradle of skiing no way was I going to let the opportunity pass me by. Everyone jumped off the bus ran in to check in at the hotel I headed up the hill until after dark. What a memory.
The earliest primitive carvings circa 5000 B.C. depict a skier with one pole, located in Rødøy (in the Norland region of Norway).
